We are very excited about the upcoming Alzheimer's Conference in March, partly because our own Vice President, Robyn Berger-Gaston ACSW, LCSW is presenting one of the break out sessions: "Facilitating Effective meetings with Families of Patients with Dementia."  This actually sounds like a great program for a GPLI meeting. . .

Angela Camaratta
did a fantastic job pulling together the refreshments for the Visions of Aging event at St. Joseph's College.  She has been quite busy actually because she also set up the speaker for the upcoming Feb.  What a fantastic Board Member and Secretary!

Not sure if Mary Winters is still an up to date dues paying member, but it is always good to see her name in the paper.  She has been named President of the Long Island Chapter of the New York State Association of Health Care Providers.  We miss you Mary.  Come back and visit this spring!

The same goes for Tracey Kuczinsky, the Senior Housing Advocate.  I miss you at our meetings!  Congratulations on your Certificate of Appreciation from New York State Women Inc., for your community service efforts.

Elizabeth Geary
, director of Day Haven Adult Day Services in Ronkonkoma, was recently elected president of the New York State Adult Day Services Association.  Elizabeth has shown great leadership over the years in her work with Day Haven, and we congratulate her for this state wide recognition.
Another Day Haven employee, Diane Van Velsor, completed  her Master's degree in Human Services Leadership at St. Joseph's College in August.  Congratulations to you as well, Diane!

A new GPLI member, Angela Fiorella, a case manager with the Suffolk County Office for the Aging, is scheduled to once again teach a specialized course on Medicaid for students and community members at St. Joseph's College.  Reports say she was fantastic last year, so you might consider signing up for it.  $100 for community members for the four night class, including two nights with presentations by lawyers.

Long time member and former president of GPLI, Geri Eisner,  has relocated to Florida.  We wish you the Best, Geri!
